You should decide this as a family, but experts tend to recommend staying away from endearments such as "daddy" or "sweetheart" in the work place where it may be overheard by non-family employees
Although it may seem harmless, using endearments around non-family members can create a sense of inequality in the workplace.
It is no problem to refer people you know or have worked with before to the family business. However, a fair process should be put in place to give all applicants an equal opportunity.
Transparency for hiring employees is important to keep feelings of equality and fairness amongst employees both family and non-family.
It is the responsibility of every employee, family or not, to be responsible for fulfilling their work expectations. Family members cannot feel entitled to redefine these expectations for their personal convenience.
If family and non-family employees have different work conditions, standards or expectations, strong feelings of resentment and dissatisfaction are likely to arise.
