Over the past 10 years, the field of family enterprise advising has changed. This course, designed specifically for designated Family Enterprise Advisors (FEAs), has been developed to reflect on those changes and what they mean for your practice.

Course description and topics

This course is all about deepening the FEA approach into your professional practice. We will start the session by reviewing the changes in family enterprise advising that we’ve seen emerge in the past 10 years. Then we’ll take you on a journey of self-reflection to explore your own practice and discover how you can better apply the FEA approach. Together, we will employ a series of vignettes to explore how an advisor might approach a continuity challenge in a more traditional approach versus how a certified FEA would approach the same issue.

TOPIC SPOTLIGHT: FAMILY OFFICES

We will focus on one key global trend: family offices, including an exploration of single family offices (SFO) vs. multi-family offices (MFO). We will provide an overview of each, and help you identify some of the challenges of implementing and operating them. Our goal is to translate your FEA strategic and systemic thinking into action with your family enterprise clients.

This course will not only take a deep dive into what’s new in family enterprise advising, but will also cover:

  • Global trends and the evolution of the ‘family enterprise’ field
  • An exploration of the question “What is an FEA?”
